Color Block Trench: Glamouflage
This is a fashion story I wrote for celebrity stylist and VH1 star June Ambrose's new website, The Juniverse.

RX: This color blocking trench coat is not only a classic must-have, but a prescription for a pear-shaped diva looking to even out her proportion.

Today’s woman has a lot on her plate when it comes to juggling family, work, and friends – and has to do it all while looking completely fabulous. In short, it’s a balancing act where each minute counts. The last thing a busy gal needs to add to her daily ‘to do’ list? Standing in front of the closet wondering what on Earth will both fit and flatter. It makes complete sense that the versatile and stylish trench has long been a staple in many ladies’ wardrobes. Spotted on the always perfectly put together Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, trench coats are a great option for glamazons with copious derrieres. The thin fabric glides over curves, providing just the right amount of warmth and polish without adding any extra bulk to your bottom half. The one must-have piece for pear-shaped fashionistas wanting to dress up their ensemble while shirking pesky Spring showers is a color blocked trench coat.

The classic silhouette on a trench not only looks modern and fresh when color blocking is added into the mix, but it also works in the pear-shaped divas favor. Since color blocking breaks the body up, look for styles where the lighter hue is placed on the top half of the jacket. The eye will naturally be drawn up towards those sexy shoulders, while the darker half of the jacket helps to camouflage those voluptuous hips. The contrasting colors will give balance and proportion to your shape. Color blocked paneling on the side of the jacket is also a plus for pear-shapes since it gives the illusion of whittling inches off the waist and hips instantly. Emphasize that envy-inducing itty bitty waist by tying the waistband, instead of buckling it, for an effortlessly cool look. If you want to take it a step further and add some extra styling oomph to your trench, try popping the collar to add some sassy attitude.
